Betsy Lieberman is founding Executive Director of Building Changes, a nonprofit organization partnering with government entities, private funders, and nonprofit service providers to end homelessness in Washington state.

In 1988, Betsy started AIDS Housing of Washington to build Bailey-Boushay House, the nation’s first newly constructed skilled nursing facility and day health program for persons living with AIDS. Since then she has spearheaded the planning and development of more than 160 units of supportive housing in the Seattle/King County area. Nationally, Betsy seeks to raise public awareness about the value of supportive housing and the prevention of homelessness. She also works diligently within the philanthropic community to garner funding that supports of Building Changes’ mission.

In 2001, Betsy was one of 20 recipients in the first year of the Ford Foundation’s Leadership for a Changing World awards program. In 2005, Betsy received a Bank of America Local Heroes Award for her contribution to neighborhood vitality. In 2006, the Puget Sound Business Journal named her as one of its 20 most influential women leaders in the region. Betsy was also named as one of the top four honorees for the 2008 Thomas C. Wales Foundation's Award for Passionate Citizenship.

Betsy holds a Master of Health Services Administration from the University of Michigan, and managed the Pike Market Medical Clinic early in her career.
