New Report Shows Improvements for Families with Greatest Need

In January 2011, Building Changes released its 2010 year-end report on the Washington Families Fund.

We're learning more about what is happening when homeless families with high needs for assistance receive stable housing and access to help through Washington Families Fund programs, including:

  • Families are becoming increasingly stable;
  • School attendance for children is improving;
  • Parents and children have a routine source of health care; and
  • Depression among families is decreasing.

This report also provides insight into new strategies we are undertaking to reduce family homelessness.

  • We’re working to connect more homeless families with employment opportunities;
  • We’re working to streamline how vulnerable families access the help they need, when they need it;
  • We’re pushing for flexible investments of public resources; and
  • We’re measuring outcomes.
